About the Farm
Background
Riehm Produce Farm has a five-generation family legacy, beginning in the mid-1950s when George and Leonard Riehm decided to grow the first vegetables on the farm. In the 1960s, the farm expanded to include cucumbers and strawberries. After George's passing, his wife Anna and their children continued the farm's operations. John Riehm took over in 1978, growing tomatoes and other vegetables, and started a roadside stand in 1985. The stand evolved over the years, leading to the construction of a dedicated building in 2013. The CSA program began in 2006, and Phil Riehm's return in 2015 further expanded the farm's offerings.
Practices
The farm grows vegetables year-round, utilizing both farm fields and 10 unheated greenhouses, even during winter months. They offer a variety of produce, fresh eggs, and cuts of frozen beef and pork. The farm emphasizes community-supported agriculture, allowing customers to customize their farm boxes online and pick them up at various locations. The farm also partners with local vendors to provide additional products.
The Rest
The farm hosts various events, including a Corn Maze & Barnyard Fun Event each fall, PopUp Days, and special events like the Total Solar Eclipse party. They also offer party rental spaces and host tours. The roadside stand is open from mid-July through October 31, and the farm participates in local farmers' markets. The farm's retail store is located north of Tiffin on Rte. 53, and they have drop-off points in Sandusky, Tiffin, and Findlay.
