About the Farm
Background
O'Farrell Country Vineyards is a family-run vineyard that has been producing wines for three generations. The vineyard is known for its muscadine and fruit wines, which are crafted from grapes and fruits grown on their own land. The tasting room is housed in a barn that is over 100 years old, adding a historical charm to the wine-tasting experience.
Practices
The vineyard grows 14 varieties of muscadine cultivars in sandy, red soils. The focus is on native-variety grapes and fruits like blueberries, which are ripened under the late-spring sun. The wines are made on-site by family members, ensuring a hands-on approach to winemaking.
The Rest
Visitors can pick their own muscadine grapes in late summer and enjoy freshly made bruschetta and other treats on tapas platters. The vineyard offers a unique experience of East Texas hospitality and is open from noon to 7 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, with the kitchen closing at 6:30 p.m.
