About the Farm
Background
Since 1919, Meadow Lane family farm has been raising Angus beef cattle on the rolling pastureland near Louisburg in Franklin County, NC. Over the years, they have expanded to include grass-fed lamb, Chevon (Boer goat meat), and Berkshire pork. Known for their commitment to humane and environmentally friendly practices, the farm has become a staple in the local community, providing high-quality meats and certified organic vegetables.
Practices
The farm raises all animals humanely on native pastures, grass, clover, and farm-raised oats, barley, and rye. Animals are born on the farm, spend their entire lives on pasture, and are tracked from 'conception to the table.' The farm never uses hormones or non-therapeutic antibiotics and avoids confining animals to factory feedlots.
The Rest
Meadow Lane's meats and certified organic vegetables are available at local farmers markets and by appointment at the farm. Every fall, the farm opens its doors to school groups and individuals for educational visits. Additionally, the farm hosts the annual Dinner in the Meadow, a fundraiser supporting the Leonard-Mobley Small Farm Fund, which provides grants to small farms in eastern North Carolina.
