About the Farm
Background
Founded in 1974 as Alternative Structures International, the farm has grown to encompass five distinct campuses over 50 acres in Lualualei Valley. Originally certified organic and biodynamic, the farm has shifted focus to expanding its social missions, including ending homelessness on O'ahu, feeding and educating youth, and providing an inclusive space for adults with developmental disabilities.
Practices
The farm employs regenerative practices on 25 acres, growing 100,000 pounds of local and organic produce each year. Emphasizing mindfulness, empathy, and working together, the farm integrates holistic approaches that consider the connections of mind, body, spirit, and community in health and healing.
The Rest
The farm offers a variety of programs and services, including a weekly CSA program, farm tours, volunteer opportunities, and internships. It also hosts a farm-to-table café, a retreat and learning center, a day program for adults with developmental disabilities, and transitional housing for the homeless. Additionally, the farm provides 5,000 meals each week to 35 schools on Oahu and serves 3,000 meals a week through the Summer Feeding Program KauKau4Keiki.
