About the Farm

Background

Cedar Springs Farm is located in the mountains of Colorado, situated on a 40-acre plot at around 6,000 feet above sea level. The farm has transformed what was once an overgrazed dry land pasture into a vibrant agricultural system. Known for its innovative use of earthworks and permaculture principles, the farm has become a stunning example of regenerative agriculture in action.

Practices

Cedar Springs Farm employs a rotational grazing system for their 100% grassfed cattle, which are never given drugs or grains. The cattle graze through lush pastures and forests, drinking pure spring water directly from the source. The farm also raises pastured kunekune hogs, which forage year-round and are finished on peaches in the fall. The entire farm operates within a silvopasture permaculture system that includes over 10,000 fruit and nut trees, providing food and shade for the livestock. The farm's swale system ensures optimal water management by concentrating manure runoff as fertilizer for tree plantings, keeping it away from the creek.

The Rest

Cedar Springs Farm offers A2A2 raw milk and butter, beef, veal, and pork that are completely free of chemicals, drugs, and grains. The farm also provides farm tours, classes, apprenticeships, and custom processing. The earthworks on the property include swales and ponds, which are stocked with trout and support a diverse range of wildlife, creating a riparian zone inhabited by willows, cottonwoods, cattails, and watercress.
