About

Background

The Price family of Big Way Farm has been dedicated to providing high-quality meats to their community for nearly twenty years. Living in the old farmhouse at the heart of their farm, they have built strong relationships with local processors and feed suppliers in Franklin County. Their commitment to local agriculture and quality food has made them a trusted source for meats in the area.

Practices

Animals have 24/7 access to chemical-free pastures, shade, and clean water throughout the year. The farm employs humane and low-stress handling methods, and all livestock are antibiotic-free. Cattle are finished on non-GMO, locally sourced grain and are typically between 18-24 months old at finishing. The farm raises black angus, red angus, and simmangus cattle, and all hay is grown on-site. Processing is done at a USDA inspected facility that maintains high standards for humane treatment, and only Big Way Farm beef and pork are included in packaging. The meats are shrink-wrapped, labeled, and dry-aged for quality.

Of note

Customers can purchase individual USDA cuts and sides of beef, as well as pastured pork and whole chickens, directly from the farm's website. Raw honey and gift certificates are also available. Orders can be picked up at the farm in Hardy, Virginia, or at Mountain View Country Market in Boones Mill, VA. The farm guarantees the quality of their dry-aged beef and offers convenient online shopping with options for in-person pickup.
