About the Farm
Background
Located in the scenic rolling hills of South Glastonbury, Connecticut, Belltown Hill Orchards is a fourth-generation family farm founded in 1910 by the Preli Family. Louis Preli, who emigrated from Northern Italy in 1904, purchased seven acres of land by the age of 20, where he grew various crops and raised livestock. Over the years, the farm expanded, adding more fruit trees and eventually a retail Farm Market in the 1970s. Today, the orchard is owned and operated by Donald Preli, Jr. and Michael Preli, along with their extended family.
Practices
Belltown Hill Orchards takes pride in the produce they grow, offering a variety of fruits including pumpkins, apples, blueberries, and cherries. The farm emphasizes a hands-on approach, allowing visitors to pick their own fruit from June to October, providing a direct connection between the land and the consumer.
The Rest
The farm market is open seven days a week from June to January, featuring homegrown fruits and vegetables, fresh local produce, pantry items, and freshly baked pies and pastries. Pick-your-own hours vary by season and are subject to change based on crop availability and weather conditions.
