About the Farm
Background
Located in the heart of New England since 1853, Bascom Family Farms has been creating maple syrup for eight generations. Known for their high-quality selection and rapid turnaround times, they serve top food manufacturers, private label marketers, food service buyers, and chefs across the United States. They are also the largest U.S. distributor of maple syrup equipment to maple farmers.
Practices
Sap is gathered from sugar maples and boiled in an evaporator until it becomes maple syrup, a process that requires about 40 gallons of sap to produce one gallon of syrup. The syrup is then hot packed in barrels and stored in coolers until needed. The farm is dedicated to sustainable practices, preserving maple forests, increasing efficiency, and reducing their carbon footprint to support small family farms and local economies.
The Rest
Maple syrup and sugar retain inherent minerals, antioxidants, and bioactive plant compounds, making them a healthier alternative to traditional sugars and artificial sweeteners. Maple syrup is versatile, enhancing a variety of foods and beverages from breakfast staples to savory dishes and trendy cocktails. The farm offers a wide range of products, from glass bottles to drums and totes, ensuring consistent flavor and color profiles.
